Money Saving Tips for Pet Owners
Owning a pet or pets, can be costly. But there are ways you can be money savvy
. Here are some money saving tips, so you can end up with a larger bank balance.
Negotiate deals with other pet owners
If you use a dog walker, a groomer or any other pet service – there are ways to save money. Do you have a neighbour or friend who uses the same services? Why not buddy up and see if your groomer or walker will give you a better price if you both use that particular service. Some groomers and walkers offer special deals. If they don’t advertise it, there’s no harm in asking.
Bulk buy food with other pet owners
Why not buy pet food in bulk and go halves with another pet owner? You can store the food in containers which is far cheaper than buying weekly from a supermarket. Check out larger pet store retailers and online suppliers
for options. Buying in bulk is always going to be cheaper. Splitting the food (and cost) with another pet owner will also mean you don’t have to store huge amounts of food in your home.
Adopt instead of buying
There are hundreds and hundreds of pets looking for homes. Shelters all over the country are looking for loving homes for their animals. Rather than use breeders – that can be expensive - visit a pet shelter. Pets are usually already vaccinated and desexed as well. Adoption fees are very small
, and you’ll be giving a pet a great home!
Saving money doesn't have to be hard. A little bit of thinking and planning will go a long way. Buddy up with other pet owners and brainstorm how you can split costs by joining forces.
