Taking Awesome Photos of your Pet
Are you always trying to capture good quality photos of your pets
but not quite getting what you want? Pets are not always the easiest subjects to photograph. They are often on the move and not always keen to pose. So how can you capture those top-notch shots?
In-built cameras on mobile phones are constantly improving. In fact, some phones offer incredibly good quality images. However, if you really want the best quality images of your pet you may want to experiment with a digital camera. Digital SLR cameras will enable you to change lenses, have greater zoom ability and provide higher quality images. You can use these cameras manually to have greater control of the tone and appearance of your photos.
Get into their world
Animals live much closer to the ground than we do. This means their perspective of the world is vastly different to ours. To take really interesting photos that show the world from your pet’s perspective, you need to get down low. Take photos at their eye level, spend time seeing how they spend their day. These make for great shots! Spend some time watching how they interact with their surroundings and what they find interesting. Experiment with photos from their point of view.
Make your pet the star
Remember that your pet is the main subject. So, when taking photos be conscious of the background. Is there something in the background that is taking away the focus from your pet? Is there enough colour contrast between the background your pet? Unless you want to show the bond between a person and your pet, make sure there is no one else in the shot. Make your pet the star.
The best pet photos are the ones that show a pet's personality. They capture that position they always curl up in, that smile they pull or the funny things they do that are unique to them. To find these great shots, pay attention to your pet and what interests them - and click away!
