Pawgust – Get Fit and Make Your Dog Happy

Pawgust is the perfect opportunity to get fit and make your dog happy at the same time. Run by Guide Dogs Australia, this fantastic cause will get you and pup out and about and having a lot of fun and raise much needed funds.

What is Pawgust?

Pawgust is a Guide Dogs Australia initiative. For the month of August dog owners are encouraged to take up the challenge of walking their dog for thirty minutes a day. That ends up being about two kilomteres each day. Walking your dog has many benefits including fitness for your dog, stimulation and various other benefits. In addition, you too will benefit from walking your dog.

How it works

If you’re keen to take part in Pawgust, simply register for free and you will be sent your Pawgust pack which is includes a pawdometer – this will help you to track your steps and make sure you are hitting the mark each day. You can be part of team with other walkers as well. Once you sign up, you can then have people sponsor you.

Why are you raising money?

Pawgust raises money for Guide Dogs Australia. Every hour of every day, an Australian family learns that their loved one will have severe or permanent sight-loss. Nine of these Australians will eventually go blind. It costs more than $50,000 to breed, raise and train a Guide Dog or Assistance Dog.  It is estimated that there are over 450,000 Australians who are blind or have low vision and this number is expected to raise to significantly increase with an ageing population.

Love the idea of taking part in Pawgust? Sign up now! Even if you don’t have a dog but would like to take part – you can! This initiative is for anyone who wants to walk every day, get fit, have fun and make a real difference.
