Providing caring services for your canine friends.
WELCOME TO HANDS ON DOGS
I have been dog grooming since 2008. Appointments are available every day with minimal waiting.I use positive handling and management techniques. I treat your dog as if they were one of my own
WHY IS DOG GROOMING IMPORTANT
There are many reasons why regular dog grooming is important
Many small dog breeds have coats that matt easily without grooming. In the same way that humans have regular haircuts to feel and look good, regular grooming maintains the health of your dogs coat. If left untreated, matts will cause unnecessary pain and discomfort to your dog.
For dogs coats that shed, regular bathing can keep the shedding hair to a minimum
While your dog is having a bath or a haircut at Hands on Dogs, I am able to also check for skin problems or grass seeds. Grass seeds can be dangerous.
HOW OFTEN DO DOGS NEED TO BE GROOMED?<,b>
Depending on the owner and the dogs coat, this can vary between an appointment every 6- 12 weeks.
A full groom (bath and haircut) takes between an hour and an hour and a half.
A bath only will take about 20 minutes.
At Hands on Dogs, I am guided by the owners choices, and work with them to ensure happy healthy dogs.
WHEN SHOULD YOU START GROOMING A PUPPY?
At Hands on Dogs we provide a complimentary trip to the groomers for puppies from 3 months old. This visit includes introduction to the equipment used and the room without actual haircut. They are shown the equipment and the room in a non threatening manner.
I feel that this gentle start provides a good basis on which the puppy accepts grooming as a part of its life.
WHAT DOES GROOMING INCLUDE?
All dogs start their visit with chat to the owner about what they require - this includes length of coat hair etc.
The dog is then bathed in warm water with soap free shampoo. This shampoo is suitable for all coat and skin types and has a pleasant perfume.
After the bath, your dog will be towel and blow dried, then the coat is clipped as discussed in the initial consultation. A combination of clippers and scissors are used. It is important to me that your dog has a positive experience at Hands on Dogs and leaves with a waggy tail, accepting that this is a part of their life.
I thoroughly enjoy working with each an every dog (and owner) that comes to Hands on Dogs.
I look forward to welcoming you and your canine friend to the Hands on Dogs Family.
