Welcome to Ornac & Notnyl Irish Setters

My first encounter with show dogs was in the 70’s when my mother took up showing a Cocker Spaniel and an Irish Setter …

As I have always been an avid animal lover I decided showing was something I would look into more when I got older and I did …

I decided I would start showing with either an Irish Setter or Cocker Spaniel depending on which was available first …

I acquired my first dog a blue roan and tan Cocker Spaniel by the name of Raytera Opache Diamond in 1985 and I started showing from there … When I acquired my third cocker I started tracing her pedigree history and found it very interesting … I learned alot about the show scene while showing these dogs even though not the best specimens of the breed… after 2 years I decided to look into getting an Irish Setter …

I acquired my first Irish Setter in 1987… he was Ardglen Lord Waverley … Watson to his friends … an 18 month old male that was no longer wanted and had been neglected by his first owners … he was from Ch Seregon Second Coming (Imp USA) and Ch Ardglen Gentle Kate … after getting him over a stomach full of hookworm we went on to have a fun time in the show ring with him gaining his Aust Ch in May 1988 and his Companion Dog Title in November 1989 … he may not have been the best of the breed but he and we had a lot of fun together and we made a lot of friends within the breed … My second Irish was also one the first owners no longer wanted and she was Vinbelda Tarrin … aka Tarrin … from here the Ornac Kennel name arose …
