Dog Behaviour, Training and Education

Welcome to The Dog Project

The Dog Project provides dog training in group and individual classes for puppies and adult dogs, behaviour modification solutions for common problems, and guidance and assistance with any dog related enquiries.

We work throughout Wollongong and the Illawarra, Southern and South West Sydney and the Southern Highlands.

Why Dog Training?

When you hear the term ‘dog training’ it is easy to think of dogs who compete in obedience trials or act in movies, but really dog training is dog-human communication.

Dogs are a completely different species with a completely different language who have been thrown into the human world. They have evolved alongside us for thousands of years, and have done a very good job understanding our strange rules, but they are still different animals who need us to guide them and teach them human ways.

Dog training can be whatever you like, from teaching your dog to sit or lie quietly on their mat or walking nicely on a lead, through to teaching your dog complex tricks.

At The Dog Project we want you to be able to work with your dog to turn it into your ideal pet, and everyone’s ideal is different! Speak to Jacqui today about what is most appropriate for your situation and dog.

Classes & Workshops

Pet dog manners
For dogs aged 6 months and older, our adult dog classes cover basic and intermediate obedience commands as well as lots of information on managing and handling your dog for life.

On Lead Manners & Coming When Called Workshop
For dogs aged 6 months and older, these workshops hone in on two of the most common pet dog owner frustrations: having a dog who doesn’t pull on the lead and who comes back when it's time to go home!

The workshop teaches loose lead walking techniques, and advises on the most appropriate equipment to manage the problem while you and your dog are learning. We also spend time focusing on on-lead manners, helping your dog to relax on the lead.

Puppy pre school
For puppies aged up to 16 weeks, our infant puppy pre-school classes are run in sterile environments so they can attend before all their vaccinations are complete.

Puppy pre-school teaches your puppy basic obedience commands as well as lots of tips and information on understanding & bringing up your puppy.
